What is the itkyo(1st Principle)

What is Ikkyo (1st Principle)….
What is the itkyo(1st Principle)

Practicing Ikkyo continuously and applying it

I thought I knew Ikkyo well, but it turns out I didn’t really know it at all…

Ah…. now that I’ve actually experienced it, I understand….

Is it the same??? A question from Gwangjin
No, when you actually experience it, it’s different.

What’s the difference?

Ikkyo is not about pushing someone down.
The purpose is to bring the opponent’s balance down to the ground. Collapse – kuzushi

If you practice the same training without being conscious of the purpose of joint locks, it won’t work…

Ikkyo isn’t about “doing it like this”—that’s not the point of the joint lock,
and if you practice focusing only on the joint lock, the way to correct it starts with observing your opponent.

Gentle words

Devote your whole life to it, cultivate the Way throughout your life, cultivate virtue and government…

  1. Oh, so “kuzushi” uses the Chinese character meaning “to collapse”? Whoa… that’s interesting. You can drive someone into the ground or crumple them up like a tin can, but that’s all a form of collapsing too, isn’t it. Getting kuzushi’d by the senpais is really fun…

  2. Thank you. Just as you said, when I go at Master with all my sincerity and the kuzushi actually happens, my own force gets transferred straight back into my own body and I feel the impact. So when I take the technique, I let out an “Ugh!” kind of yelp, but it’s not because it hurts or feels bad—it actually feels like a clean, satisfying sensation, like when a ball hits the sweet spot perfectly in tennis or golf.
